About me

Luis Miguel

Welcome! My name is Luis Miguel, I’m an IT systems administrator specialized in data storage environments. I’ll tell you more about what is all of this is a bit later.

In the next few lines, I’m going to tell you a little more about me and what I do. In this way, you will get an idea of what has happened in the last 15 years. 😉

I am originally from a village in Tenerife —Canary Islands, Spain—, and nowadays I’m living in Madrid —Spain—. Here I work for an IT solution provider company, and I’m specialized in data storage environments, serving multiple customers in Spanish geography, managing their systems or providing support to them.

Oficina

Besides the storage world and systems administration, I like robotics, aviation and avionics, and web programming and applications.

Over the time

Much has happened in the meantime since I started my IT career around the year 2000. Despite starting out self-taught, and with small home projects, it wasn’t until 2003 that I began my official studies. Since then the training has not stopped in this technological world.

2003

The beginnings

I start my computer studies. Until then I had been working and learning on my own to do small jobs. It was time to shape it and get the degrees.

2006

Start of work

This is the year I can say that I started to work in computers for a pay-roll. And how could it be otherwise, taking calls in a call center (it’s good to start from the bottom to know in the future where you come from).

Jumping to Barcelona

And in the middle of the crisis, after several years as a 24/7 systems operator for a regional government organization, and a public entity related to astrophysics, I moved to Barcelona to pursue a career in the public sector.

Storage, come to me

In 2011, after several years as a system and network administrator, I am opting for storage by signing up for a cabin management project for a company in the oil&gas sector.

‘A relaxing cup of ‘café con leche’ in Plaza Mayor’

Yes, Ana Botella’s famous quote reminds me of the time of year when I move to Madrid to continue as a storage administrator. This time again for another company in the oil&gas sector.

Dell EMC Universe

It could be from Marvel or Star Wars, but that’s not the case. After several years as an administrator in multi-vendor environments, I joined the Managed Services team at one of the country’s largest Dell EMC partners.

Collaborations

The next illustration is a sample of the work and collaborations I have done in recent years. Some of them may not be here, but I still think you can get an idea of the scope of the projects I’ve been involved in.
